What Is ADHD?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental condition that impacts attention regulation, impulse control, and activity levels. Symptoms can present differently at different life stages, and in some people, they may go unnoticed for years.

Typical ADHD symptoms include:

  • Difficulty staying focused or following instructions
  • Frequent forgetfulness or losing things
  • Excessive fidgeting or restlessness
  • Impulsive decisions or blurting things out
  • Trouble managing time, priorities, or emotions

Many individuals with ADHD also experience challenges with sleep, emotional regulation, academic or professional performance, and self-esteem.

Why Seek a Diagnosis?

Getting a formal ADHD diagnosis can bring clarity, direction, and access to support. Whether symptoms are affecting relationships or day-to-day life, a diagnosis helps:

  • Understand how your brain works
  • Access appropriate treatment or medication
  • Develop practical coping strategies
  • Reduce feelings of frustration or being “behind”
  • Improve performance and confidence

At Diverse Minds Clinic, we work to understand your complete picture, not just your symptoms. We recognise that ADHD often overlaps with other conditions like anxiety, autism, or mood disorders, and we tailor assessments accordingly.

Our ADHD Assessment Process

We offer comprehensive ADHD assessments for all ages, conducted by consultants and supported by a multidisciplinary team.

Our ADHD evaluation includes:

1. Initial Consultation

We begin with an in-depth session to gather developmental history, presenting concerns, and any previous diagnoses or reports. This may be with the individual or with the caretaker.

Our clinicians use validated tools such as:

  • DIVA-5 (for adults)
  • Other age-appropriate questionnaires and observations

We may request feedback from caregivers or partners, depending on the individual’s age and needs.

Once the assessment is complete, we provide a comprehensive report that outlines findings, diagnostic conclusions, and recommendations for treatment or support.

ADHD Treatment and Support

If diagnosed with ADHD, we’ll work with you to develop a personalised treatment plan, which may include:

Medication Management

Prescribed and monitored by a Consultant Psychiatrist. Standard options include stimulant medications (e.g., methylphenidate) or non-stimulant alternatives, tailored to the individual’s profile.

Understanding ADHD is the first step to managing it. We offer structured guidance for individuals to understand better how ADHD impacts learning, behaviour, and emotions.

We may recommend training programmes, ADHD coaching, or CBT-based interventions to help manage executive functioning, organisation, and emotional regulation.
