At Diverse Minds Clinic, we focus on understanding the whole person, not just individual traits or difficulties. We recognise that Autism often overlaps with other conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, or mood disorders, and our assessments are carefully tailored to reflect each person’s full clinical picture.
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a condition people are born with, and it often runs in families. Learning about ASD is important for getting an accurate diagnosis as an adult, which can make a real difference in quality of life. Around 1% of people have ASD, so about 700,000 people in the UK live with it. If you have ASD, your traits have been present since early childhood.
ASD is genetic and often runs in families. Research has found many genes linked to autism, but the biology is still complex. Brain scans show that autistic people have different brain activity compared to neurotypical people.
Autism is unique to each person. Some people hide their traits to fit in, while others show them more openly. Women and girls are often underdiagnosed because their signs can be less obvious.
Many autistic people also have other conditions like ADHD, anxiety, depression, or learning differences. This is why a careful and thorough assessment is so important.
We begin with a detailed clinical consultation to review your history, current concerns, and developmental background. For some individuals, input from relatives or close friends can provide additional insight.
Our clinicians use a range of recognised diagnostic tools, including:
• RAADS-R (Ritvo Autism Asperger Diagnostic Scale – Revised) • ADOS-2 (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule)
• ADI-R (Autism Diagnostic Interview – Revised) • Social communication questionnaires and developmental checklists
We also look at other issues that may be present, like sensory processing, anxiety, or ADHD.
Educational sessions for individuals, families, and professionals to foster understanding and supportive environments.
At Diverse Minds Clinic, we work to understand your complete picture, not just your symptoms. We recognize that ADHD often overlaps with other conditions like anxiety, autism, or mood disorders, and we tailor assessments accordingly.
Mental health concerns can feel isolating, but you don’t have to face them alone. Whether it’s ADHD, ASD, or another psychiatric issue, Diverse Minds Clinic offers support grounded in compassion, clinical expertise, and personal understanding.
