Why Seek a Diagnosis?

An Autism (ASD) diagnosis can provide clarity and understanding about lifelong experiences and challenges. It helps individuals and families access appropriate support, reasonable adjustments in education or the workplace, and tailored strategies to improve daily functioning, wellbeing, and quality of life.

  • Gain clarity and understanding of lifelong experiences

  • Access appropriate support and reasonable adjustments

  • Inform personalised strategies for daily life and wellbeing

  • Support educational, workplace, and care planning

At Diverse Minds Clinic, we focus on understanding the whole person, not just individual traits or difficulties. We recognise that Autism often overlaps with other conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, or mood disorders, and our assessments are carefully tailored to reflect each person’s full clinical picture.

What Is Autism Spectrum Disorder?

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a condition people are born with, and it often runs in families. Learning about ASD is important for getting an accurate diagnosis as an adult, which can make a real difference in quality of life. Around 1% of people have ASD, so about 700,000 people in the UK live with it. If you have ASD, your traits have been present since early childhood.
ASD is genetic and often runs in families. Research has found many genes linked to autism, but the biology is still complex. Brain scans show that autistic people have different brain activity compared to neurotypical people.

Common traits of Autism include:

Autism is unique to each person. Some people hide their traits to fit in, while others show them more openly. Women and girls are often underdiagnosed because their signs can be less obvious.
Many autistic people also have other conditions like ADHD, anxiety, depression, or learning differences. This is why a careful and thorough assessment is so important.

Why Seek an Autism Diagnosis?

Getting a formal diagnosis can bring clarity, validation, and access to the right support at home, work, or school. It can help explain challenges you’ve faced and highlight your strengths. At Diverse Minds Clinic, our Autism Spectrum Disorder services help individuals and families:
