Autism Spectrum Assessment and Support
At Diverse Minds Clinic, we provide thorough, evidence-based assessments and caring, person-focused support for people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). If you want answers for yourself or someone close to you, our team is ready to help with diagnosis, tailored interventions, and ongoing support.
Common traits of Autism
Autism is unique to each person. Some people hide their traits to fit in, while others show them more openly. Women and girls are often underdiagnosed because their signs can be less obvious.
You may have spent years feeling different, finding social situations difficult or becoming overwhelmed by changes, noise or busy environments. Understanding whether autism could be part of your experience may help you make sense of lifelong challenges and identify support that works for you.
Diverse Minds Clinic provides private adult autism assessments with consultant psychiatrist Dr Alex Cappai at our Harley Street clinic in central London. Secure online appointments are also available across the UK.

Your developmental history and wider mental health will also be considered to build a fuller picture of your needs.
Following your assessment, you will receive a written diagnostic report with clear recommendations based on the outcome.
ADHD and autism can overlap in areas such as concentration, organisation, sensory processing and emotional regulation. This can sometimes make it difficult to understand which traits may be affecting you.
During a combined adult ADHD and autism assessment, Dr Alex Cappai will explore both conditions as part of the same process. You will receive a detailed written report explaining the outcome and recommended next steps.

Had a combined ADHD & Autism assessment with Dr Cappai. I felt at ease from the start & after doing my research beforehand I felt I was in very good hands throughout the assessment process. After a lengthy battle with NHS and subsequent RTC services the professionalism, care and expertise of Dr Cappai and Diverse Minds was a real relief.Posted on Google![]()

Choosing the right medical professional for your circumstances is not easy; I know this as someone with high-masking autism & ADHD co-occurring. I’d been curious to explore my symptoms for quite some time, aware how ADHD behaviour with ASD could be more nuanced to identify, & may overlap, or cancel-out. I also felt confused though, having previously been dismissed by one medical professional, on the basis I had been able to sit still during our conversation (an outdated view BTW!). I subsequently carried out a lot of research before finding Dr Alessandra Cappai, and I’m incredibly pleased I did. When scheduling my appointment, Zahra was incredibly considerate in communicating the process effectively, so I felt comfortable with what to expect. Plus, I didn’t have to wait for months either. Dr Cappai was particularly helpful at directing my assessment so conversation remained focused on the most relevant details and explored my personal experience, whilst playing back comments in a way that made me feel understood. This ensured time was used effectively to also then offer support, rather than simply assess. I left my assessment equipped with useful action points which I have been able to implement immediately to help ease certain pain-points. I was also provided some useful research pointers and concepts to consider, on the topic of various approaches for treatment. I am confident I will be choosing Dr Cappai’s expertise again in the near future, as I follow-up on some of these options.
